Nu:Branding is a Rotterdam based branding bureau. They needed to have their website reflect the high quality work they deliver through a new clean design, which Yriclium implemented for them.
The Nu:Branding site was becoming a bit dated, having been up for years. However, the content was still relevant, and a lot of work had already been prepared in their CMS, ready to be published. For this reason the decision was made to redesign the website. An attempt was made by a previous designer and developer to overhaul the website but this never came to be due to the design not fitting the vision and the development process being overcomplicated.
In commission for Nu:Branding, Yriclium made the choice to implement the new design in the frontend with minimal changes to the backend, so they could keep the content in their CMS untouched.
These are the results:
The cases page is interesting because for this page the client wanted to implement custom headers and banners for every case category. This has been implemented, and once they have the content ready for these elements, they can fill it in and turn it on from their CMS whenever they're ready.

The first choice presented was the following: whether to go on with the abandoned codebase for the new design, or build the new design on top of the old website. The latter was chosen. This provided Nu:Branding with an array of benefits:
The codebase for the new design which was abandoned was overly complex and would not have transferred well if they would want to hand it to another developer.
The new design has been applied to their old website, allowing them to keep using their CMS exactly like how it's always been.
In the implementation of their new design, Yriclium made all the content and order it's presented in configurable from the CMS. Expanding the control the client has over their website - whereas the devs of both the old site and the abandoned new site have habitually hardcoded most content into the code base.
When creating any sort of software, every solution should always be as simple as possible, prevent a clutter of unnecessary technology being used, and allow clients to have control over the data that really matters to them without having to contact a developer. For the Nu:Branding website redesign, this philosophy was certainly delivered upon.
Some of the technologies used in this project were:
- Twig templating + JavaScript + BootStrap for frontend
- PHP + Craft CMS for backend
- Figma for referencing the vision of the new design
